Lituanica.com
proposes for the Republic of Lithuania to
change/update it's state flag
to a flag which more appropriately matches
history, spirit of Lithuanian nation as well
as Lithuania's location in the Northern and
Central Europe as well as it's history. This
proposal is just our personal opinion. We didn't
contact any institutions of Lithuanian
government with our proposal, it's just our idea
and we wish to share it with you. |
|
1. Green colour is for Lithuania's lush forests and
parks covering big part of the country. Blue colour is for Lithuania's numerous rivers and
lakes and also for Baltic Sea which washes
western shores of Lithuania. "Scandinavian
Cross" layout of the new proposed flag is
proposed for Lithuania's proximity and closeness
to Northern Europe. We think why not have
something different than a "standard"
"Tri-colour". This flag is so familiar
to the Swedish flag, but then again, current flag
of Lithuania is so similar to Bulgarian flag. |
|
 |
|
2. Same colours as in the
current flag, but layout is different.
"Scandinavian Cross" layout of the new
proposed flag is proposed for Lithuania's
proximity and closeness to Northern Europe. |
|
 |
|
3. Same as above, just a
different colour layout. |
|
 |
|
4. White colour is for
Lithuania's not so very often sunny skies. Green colour is for Lithuania's lush forests and
parks covering big part of the country. There is
no yellow colour for Lithuania's rye fields not
so numerous these days when the country switches
to a more advanced non-agricultural economy. I
would love to see this flag flying above Seimas. |
|
 |
|
5. Yellow colour is for....Lithuania's rye fields
in case if the country decides to still have a
large agricultural sector in it's economy. Green colour is for Lithuania's lush forests and
parks covering big part of the country. Another
nice "candidate flag". |
|
 |
|
6. Did you notice that the
flag below is somehow similar to the flag of
Sweden just "switched" colours? Well,
we didn't mean it to be similar to a Swedish
flag, but why not be good neighbours with Sweden
and all other our neighbours and so Yellow colour is for...this time it is for
Lithuania's golden and fine sand on it's Baltic
Sea beaches. Blue colour is for Lithuania's numerous rivers and
lakes and also for Baltic Sea which washes
western shores of Lithuania. More: sandy beaches
in the west and sandy soil in the east, vertical
blue stripe is for Baltic Sea and the horizontal
one is for river Nemunas going deep inland as
well as all other rivers and lakes that are so
plenty in Lithuania. |
|
 |
|
7. No comment, this flag
probably has little chance though it has similar
colours to the flag of Vatican with which
Lithuania shares the same religion. |
|
 |
|
8. Again, same colours as
explained in the flags above, just a different
layout and colour switching. |
|
 |
|
9. What we have here is our
vision of a very beautiful flag which could be
the official flag of the Republic of Lithuania.
It means everything: Baltic Sea, lakes, rivers,
country's progress, country's future and
Lithuania as crossroads in Europe. To
Scandinavian looking flag? Come on, do you see a
cross? Isn't a cross a symbol of all
Christianity? |
|
 |
|
10. Blue colour is for Lithuania's numerous rivers and
lakes and also for Baltic Sea which washes
western shores of Lithuania. Red colour is for all the
wars that occured in Lithuania, all the blood
that got spilled in Lithuanian history as well as
to commemorate the holocaust that has taken place
in Lithuania as well. This flag speaks about the
past, the present and even about the future of
Lithuania and the world (space exploration,
science etc.). |
|
 |
|
11. Green colour is for Lithuania's lush forests and
parks covering big part of the country. Red colour is for all the
wars that occured in Lithuania, all the blood
that got spilled in Lithuanian history as well as
to commemorate the holocaust that has taken place
in Lithuania as well as in other countries of
Europe. |
|
 |
|
12. Same colours, just
vertical layout. This "Vertical
Tricolour" layout is present in flags of
such predominantly Roman Catholic countries as
France, Italy, Romania, Ireland etc. |
|
 |
|
13. Same colours as in current
flag of Lithuania, but totally different layout
and "Towers of Gediminas" (Gedimino
Stulpai) are positioned in the center of the
flag. Colours would have to be a bit darker, of
course. |
|
 |
|
14. Horizontal Cross of Fire
in the cloudy sky above the rivers. |
|
 |
|
15. Horizontal Lithuanian
Cross flag. |
|
 |
|
16. Sun rises in the
East.....Lush green forests of
Lithuania.....Bloody history.....and finally the
Baltic Sea in the west. Blue colour is what's
probably missing in the flag of Lithuania?
Ziuredami i apacioje pateikta veliava
isivaizduokite, kad esate paukstis kuris mato
Lietuva atskrisdamas is siaures vakaru - nuo
Baltijos juros puses. |
|
 |
|
17. Some different layout with
"Towers of Gediminas" (Gedimino
Stulpai). |
|
 |
|
18. Some different layout with
"Towers of Gediminas" (Gedimino
Stulpai). Probably one of the most serious
"candidate flags". |
|
 |
|
19. Some different layout with
"Towers of Gediminas" (Gedimino
Stulpai). Geltona spalva virsutiniame kairiajame
kampe taip pat galetu reiksti atgauta Klaipeda, o
raudona spalva zemutiniame desiniajame kampe
galetu reiksti atgauta Vilniu ir Vilniaus krasta. |

Mes netikime, kad
Lietuvos veliava kada nors bus pakeista. Gal tai
ir nera butina, bet manome, kad Jums buvo idomu
pasiziureti ar pasvajoti apie kazkokia kitokia,
gal geresne Lietuvos ateiti ir veliava. |

Veliavos keisti nereikia.
Reikia SUGRAZINTI istorine Lietuvos veliava,
teisingiau daugiau ja naudoti. Ji juk originali,
grafiska, simetriska. Rekia tik kad dailininkai
dar padirbetu. Nezinau, kodel is viso buvo
sugalvota trispalve.

Zemiau matote
veliava pasiulyta mums neseniai po diskusiju
forumuose. Komentarai buvo tokie, kad si veliava
butu tinkamiausia Lietuvai, nes zalia spalva
reiskia Lietuvos girias, o balta zvaigzde reiskia
balta salies dangu Europos paciame centre. Penki
zvaigzdes kampai atstovauja, kaip aiskina
paveikslelio siuntejas, Aukstaitija, Zemaitija,
Dzukija, Suvalkija ir Vilniaus krasta.
Alternatyviai, penki kampai, penkios istorines
Lietuvos zemes: Mazoji Lietuva, Lietuva,
Klaipedos krastas, Vilniaus krastas bei lietuviu
gyvenamos zemes uz Lietuvos ribu (i pietus bei i
rytus). |

I think the current flag is
great, and is a pointless ideal to change it. It
is an insult to all those that fought and died
under the current flag. And the new designs just
look like Swedish flags.
